Welcome
Models used in Sailing School. Success - We have learned that we can teach basic and performance sailing better and faster sailing a model than on board a full sized boat. Some of our clients are only interested in sailing models, but others are interested in learning to sail, or increasing their sailing skills, for sailing full sized boats. It doesn't make any difference, sailing is sailing, and everything you learn on a model is transferable. Sailing Camp - Our school system is expanding. We are now offering classes both at our Rocky Mountain High School, or on location where you live. Our Rocky Mountain school is run like a tennis or golf camp. You come - stay - play - learn - relax - learn - and then play some more. You attend class only 1/2 of each day, and have the rest of the day for yourself. Comfort & Safety - We teach from shore - you never get in a boat, never put on a life vest, never get wet, never get beaned by a boom, and never need to worry about using the head! But your brain will get a workout as this is the most condensed form of instruction you will find in the world of sailing. Curriculum - Learn to "walk-the-walk", and "talk-the-talk". No matter where you start, we will move you forward - and fast. Our course curriculum is based on the client - not on a canned outline. The idea is that we can quickly assess your knowledge and build from there. Because model learning is so much faster, you will learn more in a shorter time . . . and learn it well. Magnificent Location - Our school is run in the beautiful mountain town of Evergreen, Colorado - just west of Denver in the rugged Rocky Mountains. And the name describes it best. At 7200 feet, the Evergreen forests are thick and dominant. Only a small portion of the land in this area is available for building - most is protected from growth. ![]() Clear mountain lakes provide our sailing venues. We sail from shore under bright sparkling blue skies, enjoying one of the most ideal climates in the world. Temperatures are moderated year round by our very low humidity. And wildlife is ever present with a resident heard of over 300 elk, and untold numbers of deer. We also enjoy the presence of the brown bear, even though rarely seen in the daytime. Lodging - We offer lodging in local B & Bs or a Quality Suites Inn. Recommended hosts are extremely professional, offering quiet, comfortable accommodations and outstanding service. ![]() See & Do - Within an hour's drive is a wide variety of experiences to bring outside entertainment to your sailing camp vacation. 30 minutes takes you to downtown Denver, with all the big city shows, restaurants and attractions. 15 minutes takes you to the Gambling casinos of Blackhawk and Central City. Gambling is a special treat in these towns famous for gold mining in the 1800's. Within an hour, you can visit majestic Summit County with valleys at 9000 feet, surrounded by 14,000 foot peaks. There are four major ski resorts within 20 minutes of each other. Along the way, visit some of the most fascinating mining towns of the 19th century. Or try dining atop a mountain in ultra modern convenience at ski resort lodges. Summer in the Rockies is truly a wonderland of activity and easy living. Personalized - Your primary instructor will be Steve Lang who has sailed and raced since he was 10 years old. Having taught sailing all his life, he reads students quickly and knows how to make the most of their learning time. The instruction is personalized with no more than 4 in a class. Private lessons are also available.
Don't let the western hat fool you, Steve is a sailor through and through Clients - The OnShore Sailing School is primarily for adults, even though teenage children are welcome if their parents are also taking the course. Please visit our other Model Sailing Sites
