Sailing CourseInstructor - Your primary instructor is Steve Lang. Steve has sailed all his life. As a kid he learned from a youth sailing program and was racing at the national level by the time he was 15. A West Point graduate, Steve left the service after Vietnam, and founded Fleet Indigo, a yacht charter fleet in the Virgin Islands. Following ten years in this trade, Steve moved into design and development of special rigs for sailboats. Steve is now extremely happy to teach, and brings his years of natural abilities to your side. 4 hour Classes - We know from experience that model sailors cannot progress after 4 hours of sailing. The concentration necessary to sail a model is much more demanding. Physically, you could go on all day, but mentally you will be ready for a break. So we limit your class time to 4 hours a day. Each class day starts with a shore-side outline of what will be covered that day, and a recap of what has been covered to date. But the bulk of the time is spent sailing. Drills & One-on-One - Classes are kept to 2 clients. This is very personalized training. The instructor takes clients through drills by announcing the next move and watching the performance of each sailor. The boats are distinctively marked, yet they are exactly the same - making it easy to assess each sailor's performance. Boats - Course boats are the RC Laser class models. Boat usage during the course is included in the course price. Some courses will demonstrate one or two other model classes. Casual & Fun - Steve knows how to keep it light and yet keep your mind focused on the tasks at hand. Above all, sailing is fun - and you will learn that too! What it is NOT! - We do not teach boat safety, navigation, or other specific skills of handling a full sized boat. However, everything you learn on a model is transferable to a real boat and you will understand it better for having learned on a model. 8 Hour Weekend Course - Classes are only 4 hours per day. Additional 8 hour courses may be scheduled to advance your learning. One-on-One - If you want the very best personalized service, try the one-on-one course. It is available in either the 8 hour or 20 hour version. Refunds - Late bookings are sometimes available, but late cancellations are very difficult for us. You must cancel at least 2 weeks before the course date to receive a full refund.
